Starting point

Contrada San Giovanni

Taking state roads that seem to be provincial and provincial roads that seem to be mule tracks, we will reach Salaparuta and the winery, or rather the chateau garage, where Gianni Palermo produces his "vin de garage". The term "vin de garage" dates back to the early 1990's and was coined to describe amateur productions that are so small that they could be kept in a garage. It has spread throughout Italy since the early 2000's thanks to the passion of private citizens who, without having a winery, can produce the wine they love. On the way back we will pass by the Grande Cretto, the imposing work that Alberto Burri donated to Gibellina to commemorate the earthquake of 1968.
