The Salt Road
The Salt Road
Starting point
Trapani (central station, passo stazione)
This route winds between the centre of Trapani and the centre of Marsala. We will pedal between sixteenth-century windmills, garlic braids hanging in the sun, flamingos and piles of white salt that create a magnificent play of light and colour. From the oriented natural reserve of the salt pans of Trapani and Paceco to the Salt Museum of Nubia until you reach Marsala, famous in history for the landing of Garibaldi’s Thousand and for the production of its very special homonymous wine. After Marsala we will reach the Barraco winery in Contrada Florio, where Nino will tell us about the local area accompanying the story with a selection of his wines, all strictly autochthonous.
